“After nearly three years of serving the Governor, first as a Deputy Chief of Staff and then Chief of Staff, Adrian Lukis is leaving the administration, likely in mid-September, with an announcement about the move to come some time after Labor Day,” reports Florida Politics.
“When he was asked to take over for Shane Strum, the Chief of Staff to DeSantis who had served for more than two years, Lukis made clear that his time in the most powerful staff position in state government would not be as long as his predecessor’s.”
“Lukis had intended to announce his plans for departing sometime in early August. But that was delayed by the realities of the pandemic.”
Naturally, this kind of news leads to speculation about what Lukis may be trying to avoid. The Florida Governor has no shortage of scandals on his plate, as he continues to try to fight against mask mandates in spite of the state seeing record high numbers of new Covid cases, he continues to oppose enhanced inspection standards for multi-story buildings in spite of the Surfside condominium collapse, he recently signed a bill that legalized the brutal mutilation and murder of civil rights protesters by Florida police officers, and he is widely suspected of having been a participant in the teen sex orgies organized by Florida House Representative Matt Gaetz.
