China’s Yutu 2 lunar rover has been sent on a mini-side quest to investigate a mysterious protrusion its team spotted on the horizon, according to a translation of an update posted to the China National Space Administration’s Our Space news site on Friday. While there’s currently no evidence the object is of artificial origin, the Our Space writer just goes ahead and speculates it might be a house built by aliens marooned on the moon. Yutu 2 has been redirected toward the salience and will take 2 or 3 months to complete the estimated 260 foot detour to investigate it.
Which probably means it will be too slow to escape should an angry alien patriot survivalist who settled on the moon to escape a decadent, secular society on Antares VII come out with a quantum plasma shotgun and blast that fuckin ChiCom spy bot to hell for infringin’ on its rightful property.
