“Mr. President, I want to say, because of you, a lot of Americans have had some great Christmases,” former Arkansas governor, GOP presidential candidate and guy whose stomach staples should have been put on his lips to prevent excessive eating and BS spewing Mike Huckabee claims without noting the families of hundreds of thousands now-dead Americans didn’t have great Christmases thanks to Donald Trump.
After the Huckabee Heap O’ Praise, Trump starts on a string of false claims:
- that under Biden the US has gone “back to OPEC” for oil because the nation was energy independent (a lie because the US has never stopped importing oil from OPEC nations and the US was never “energy independent,” i.e., producing 100% of its energy needs domestically);
- that gasoline prices were $1.87 under his administration but in California, Trump claims, it’s selling at $7.50 per gallon (low gas prices at the end of Trump’s term were because of a lack of demand because we were in a pandemic-caused recession, and gas prices in California average $4.67);
- that because of his leadership, the US outproduced Russia and Saudi Arabia in oil (when Trump entered office, the US was producing 10.7 million barrels of oil per day; Russia, 10.7 million barrels daily; and Saudi Arabia, about 9.5 million barrels daily);
