Florida saw a total of at least 77,995 new COVID-19 cases over Christmas weekend, revising the total on Monday upward from the 38,995 on Saturday and Sunday, the AP reports. The state, whose population is estimated to be 73.97% at least partially vaccinated against the virus, saw a staggering 24,602 Coronavirus deaths in the past six months. New York State, by comparison, is estimated to be 82.9% at least partially vaccinated, saw 5,989 deaths – less than a quarter of Florida’s total in the same period (Math based on a rough estimate of the death toll given Governor Kathy Hochul’s revision on August 25th of the deaths undercounted by the Cuomo Administration).
