Kyle Chapman, the 46-year-old Idaho resident known as “Based Stickman” in white nationalist circles, has been arrested by federal authorities for felony battery against a health care worker after an incident at a hospital where he was being treated for pneumonia, the Idaho Statesman reports.
Chapman was hospitalized at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise when he grabbed a hospital employee against their will. Hospital staff also said Chapman was abusive, calling workers sexist and racist slurs. The U.S. Marshal’s Greater Idaho Fugitive Task Force arrested Chapman without incident, and he is being held on $100,000 bail.
A member of the Proud Boys who founded a paramilitary unit for the group and later found an alt-right, white nationalist group known as the Fraternal Order of the Alt-Knights, Chapman came to national attention when he was arrested after using a club studded with lead to beat counter-protesters during a 2017 march in support of Donald Trump. He is currently on probation for an unspecified incident that happened in Texas.
