“In fact, CDC Director Walensky recently admitted that 75%–yes 75%–of Covid deaths occured in people with at least four co-morbidities,” Georgia Republican Congressman Andrew Clyde proclaims. “Every life is precious, and families deserve the truth. The question must be answered: how many Americans died with Covid compared to how many died from Covid.”
Let’s put this puppy to bed once and for all, shall we? The study that Clyde mangles is one Director of the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control Rochelle Walensky cited on Good Morning America earlier this week. The study of 1.2 million people who are fully-vaccinated found that 36–yes, just 36–of the group died of Covid, and 27–yes, just 27–of them had four or more co-morbidities. So that’s 27 out of a pool of 1.2 million people, or 0.002% of the pool of fully vaccinated people, not 75% of all people who have died of Covid, as Clyde implies.
