Recent campaign ad targeting suggests that corrupt, misshapen Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is taking the primary challenge from similarly corrupt and misshapen Congressman Louie Gohmert much more seriously than he is from other challengers George P Bush and some woman nobody’s heard of, the Texas Tribune reports. In ads that lean heavily on his already securing the coveted endorsement of the Orange Pharaoh – which is basically the only real contrast he can draw against Gohmert – Paxton has hit hard at the loose-toothed Congressman’s East Texas base.
Literally the only thing Paxton can bring up is the Trump endorsement. It’s not like he can say “Oh look, Louie Gohmert is a white nationalist who sued Mike Pence to overturn the 2020 election and lost,” because neither are considered a bad thing among Texas GOP primary voters. And Paxton sued Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin to overturn the 2020 election and lost.
Gohmert, for his part is hammering at the fact that Paxton has been under felony indictment for six years now, though again that’s not necessarily a bad thing because “the Deep State always comes after the fighters” and blah blah blah. Then again Gohmert could counter that by mentioning he was identified as a security threat in a US Capitol Police intelligence division report. That’s definitely a plus in what’s sure to be a marquee race in MAGA scumbaggery this March.
