The Republican Party in the US is currently in a state of collapse over scandals created by their attempts to destroy Democracy, and the rampant sexual perversion of several leading party members. The January 6th Committee recently subpoenaed 14 fake electors who were part of the Trump Administration’s efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election. The fake electors scandal could result in numerous GOP leaders going to prison on conspiracy charges. There is a very real possibility that many GOP incumbents currently running for election in 2022, or planning to run for re-election in 2024, may have to suspend their campaigns after being sentenced to time in a Federal prison.
Another issue for the GOP is the sprawling GOP sex scandal in the state of Florida. House GOP member Matt “little Epstein” Gaetz, a staunch ally of the defeated former guy is under investigation for allegedly hosting a series of drug-fueled orgies featuring under-age prostitutes. Gaetz has denied that he ever had relations with a minor, suggesting that all of the women that he has paid for sex were over the age of 18, and that’s just Florida. A close friend of Gaetz recently agreed to a plea deal with Federal prosecutors, and Republicans in Congress are reportedly increasing their distancing from Gaetz as the Feds close in. News of Gaetz “Perv-Fests” also create complications for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is favored by domestic fascists as a replacement for the increasingly senile and incontinent former guy. Did DeSantis participate in the Gaetz prostitute sex parties, and even if he wasn’t a participant, people still want to know what the fascist governor knew, and when did he know it?
Historically, the party of the President loses Congressional seats in the first mid-term following a Presidential election. That may not be the case in 2022. While every Democrat needs to guard against over-confidence, and realize that every single Democrat who is able to get out and vote in the 2022 mid-terms must do so as a matter of helping to preserve our Democracy, the idea that the Democracy-hating sex-perverts in the GOP will enjoy an overwhelming victory simply because of historic trends is not well supported. Generic Congressional Ballot polling right now is very close, with a number of polls showing the Democratic Party in the lead. The combination of new revelations about how the Republican Party tried to destroy our Democracy and install Trump as dictator, along with reports that numerous Florida Republicans participated in Matt Gaetz drug-fueled teen prostitute sex parties, could doom the GOP in 2022.
