The Republican National Committee’s resolution committee will advance to the floor a resolution to censure Republican members of Congress Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois for serving on the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th attack on Congress, CNN reports.
The censure will now advance to the Party’s 162-member Politburo, no, no, I mean Central Committee. No, that’s not it either… College of Cardinals. Oh, crap, whatever. Someone’ll vote it through.
Anyway, some far-right members initially proposed the RNC expel Cheney and Kinzinger from the Party for supporting an investigation into the roots of a Republican-led plot to undermine the 2020 election and install Trump for a second term that led to a domestic terrorist attack on Congress. Members opted to water that down to a censure.
A call to the offices of Cheney and Kinzinger for their reactions to these marks on their permanent records went unanswered.
