US intel sources tell CNN that intercepted comms among Russian military leadership indicate growing unease with plans for invading Ukraine, with the officers fearing such action would be far costlier and more difficult than the Kremlin goons realize. They’re also pissed that the US and other Western nations have not held back from publicizing comms intercepts, feedback that was nice of CNN’s sources to include. There is however no evidence military leadership are opposed overall or would mutiny against the Putin regime should an invasion be launched, just apprehension. “In the assessments we see it is clear some people on the [Russian] defense side are not really understanding what the game plan is,” a European defense official told CNN, adding the intercepts suggest Russian military officials think “it’s a very difficult game plan to stand up.”
