Humorist, political satirist and journalist P.J. O’Rourke has died at the age of 74, NPR program Wait, Wait… Don’t Tell Me, a radio gameshow on which on which O’Rourke was a frequent guest, announced on its Facebook page.
“We’re heartbroken to confirm that our friend and panelist PJ O’Rourke has died,” WWDTM posted. “He was as kind as he was funny, and we’ll miss him more than we can say.”
O’Rourke worked for The Atlantic Monthly, The American Spectator, The Weekly Standard and The Daily Beast over a 50 year writing career. His libertarian leanings made him lampoon both the left and the right in his writings.
