Authorities searching the destroyed drama theater in the Ukrainian port city of Mariupol, bombed Wednesday by Russian forces even though the word “children” was painted in large white letters on the pavement outside, say there are signs that the women and children sheltered inside made it into the basement bomb shelter before the building was hit and are working to free them from under the rubble, the Associated Press reports. A nearby public pool sheltering women and children was also hit Wednesday, according to Ukrainian MP Sergiy Taruta. “Now there are pregnant women and women with children under the rubble there,” Taruta wrote on Facebook.
