A 70-year-old Texas man is in custody and charged with murder after he shot and killed his 60-year-old neighbor because the neighbor’s dog was spotting running around the neighborhood, according to KTBC Fox 7 Austin.
William Duncan Womack went to talk with his neighbor, Eric Lee Elliott who was doing yard work in the front of his house, after Elliott declared to Womack’s daughter that he would shoot the Womack’s dog if it every wandered onto his property again.
As Womack approached Elliott, Elliott kicked Womack’s leg, knocking him to the ground. Elliott then produced a .45-caliber handgun from his waistband and shot Womack once in the stomach. First responders airlifted Womack to a hospital, where he died.
Witnesses said after shooting Womack, Elliott put the handgun back into his pickup truck and continued to do yard work until police arrived.
