A three-month old baby who was kidnapped from a San Jose home while his grandmother was unloading groceries from her car has been located unharmed after a 20-hour search, CBS News reports. A suspect has been detained.
Brandon Alexis Cuellar was found unharmed and in healthy condition but was taken to a hospital for a check up. Police have not released details about how or where the infant was found as they pursue an investigation.
Brandon’s grandmother, who was babysitting while the mother worked, had put the boy into the apartment and then went to retrieve the groceries from the car. Security cameras show a man wearing a facemask entering the apartment after the grandmother stepped out, and moments later, he leaves with a baby carrier covered in a blanket with the child apparently inside.
The man apparently brought the baby carrier with him to the apartment, indicating that the kidnapping had been pre-planned and not random. A woman who may have been acting as a distraction for the grandmother is being questioned by police.
