We really shouldn’t report that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is going to seize Mar-a-Lago from former President Trump and demolish it just because he can. That would be completely irresponsible because we haven’t seen any evidence whatsoever that is DeSantis’s plan. Even though it would make sense and it feels like it’s probably true isn’t enough to go on here.
After all former President Trump is the greatest threat to DeSantis’s ambitions to become the 47th president of the United States, so why wouldn’t he use his powers simply to make Trump’s life miserable? We’re just asking questions here. Wellll now that we bring them up, might as well just go ahead and ask them right? Like it wouldn’t hurt to just throw out a few hypotheticals such as “What if DeSantis’s most loyal Florida National Guardsmen were planning a raid on Mar-a-Lago because DeSantis has false evidence that Trump is planning to assassinate him and therefore it’s more of a preemptive strike”, right? We mean, if we just take that presupposition and stop acting like it’s just a hypothetical scenario but an accepted reality then we haven’t really crossed an ethical line in journalism, have we? We’re still good people who should have no trouble sleeping at night, right?
Hell no. We’re for informational and/or entertainment purposes only and the one of those we present ourselves as depends on what kind of civil or even criminal liability we’re talking about here. So if you’re state or federal law enforcement or a well-paid libel attorney then we’re not seriously saying that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is planning some kind of false flag where a team Cuban and Venezuelan commandos are given the building plans to Mar-a-Lago along with detailed information about local law enforcement and Secret Service patrol routines by intermediaries. We just would want to disown it if other people start saying stuff like that and it leads to violence.
Still, in a moral sense it’d be extremely reckless of us to be telling our readers that Ron DeSantis is a serious threat to President Trump and that they should go on right wing websites and start giving like really specific details about his plans to use his position as governor to make a move against the Donald. It’d be especially sick and twisted if our readers were to add specific details like DeSantis is secretly allied with a giant sex trafficking ring based at Walt Disney World and all the shit about taking away their special status is just a psyop or that he has a secret private tunnel with a hyperloop train that goes to Epstein Island in the Bahamas. Make sure you add that there are eight letters in “DeSantis” and eight is considered a lucky number in China, therefore he’s allied with the ChiComs and the evil Chairman Xi. Might as well contrive some Sharia law connection too.
Wait, we mean make sure you don’t add that if you go post some version of this story on the Gateway Pundit or Breitbart. That’s really bad and we’re not encouraging that sort of behavior.
