To be clear, the headline is about Abbott Laboratories, the manufacturer of Similac brand baby formula, whose product recall and closure at a Sturgis, Michigan plant over bacterial contamination is largely (but not solely) responsible for the shortage. They claim they’re working on it by importing some excess inventory from their warehouse in Ireland and switching an Ohio factory that makes the liquid Similac in bottles to dry powder production to increase the overall supply.
Meanwhile, Texas Gov Greg Abbott, the first MAGA politician we reported to be blaming the shortage on at most a few thousand migrant infants being held at CBP facilities being fed formula – as if having them starve would somehow make a dent in a national shortage – and hasn’t done anything except cravenly make it into a right wing political issue. Probably because he’s paralyzed from the waist down and wears adult diapers. That’s enough to make anyone angry at life.
