Continuing its proud tradition of schisms splitting its adherents into ever-smaller denominations, on Friday Christianity saw a whole new sect come into existence as the Ukrainian Orthodox Church declared itself fully independent of the Russian Orthodox Church led by evil Jesus wizard Patriarch Kirill, the church declared on its website, citing Kirill’s support for the war in Ukraine.
“The council condemns the war as a violation of God’s commandment ‘Thou shalt not kill!’ (Ex. 20:13) and expresses disagreement with the stance of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia regarding the war in Ukraine,” the council said, asserting “the complete independence of the UOC.” The Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) – the one now formerly loyal to the Russian Orthodox Patriarchy – is separate and distinct from the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU). The UOC expressed an interest in a “dialogue” with the OCU in its declaration Friday, so this may yet not be quite so much of a schism as a spinoff and merger. Either way the corrupt dirtbag Kirill loses out on cash to fund his lavish lifestyle. Martin Luther would be proud. Probably.
