Trailing by a margin of less than one thousand votes, hedge fund CEO and Connecticut resident David McCormick called celebrity doctor and New Jersey resident Mehmet Oz to concede the race as the number of potential outstanding votes dwindled, the Associated Press reports.
“It’s now clear to me with the recount now largely complete that we have a nominee,” McCormick said at perhaps the worst campaign party in history. “Tonight is really about all us coming together.” Oz will now face the Democratic nominee, Lt Gov John Fetterman, a Pennsylvania native and former small town mayor, in a key race that may determine which Party holds the majority in the Senate.
