Accused of contempt of Congress for failing to respond to a constitutionally-issued subpoena from the House Select Committee investigating the domestic terrorist attack on Congress, former Trump advisor Peter Navarro takes a moment while addressing the media to promote his new book, which he says will help him fund his defense against the charges. With a net worth in excess of $5 million, Navarro is representing himself in the matter; Navarro is not an attorney and never went to law school.
Navarro goes on to explain that he is representing himself because the Democrats are bound and determined to bankrupt him and he doesn’t want to spend the $700,000 he says it will take to defend him in this case. Which begs the question: If he’s in such a bad financial situation personally, how the hell did anybody think he could oversee the US economy?
