“They took a meeting they never should have taken, and they got played, and that’s the FBI’s fault,” former South Carolina Congressman and Tilda Swinton cosplayer Harold Watson “Trey” Gowdy III said on his Fox show. “So, yes, somebody lost a trial this week, but it wasn’t John Durham. It was the FBI.”
… except John Durham did lose the trial this week, badly. After putting on a two-week case in which just one witness was called, the lawyers on Durham’s team were handed a complete vindication for the defendant in a head-spinningly fast six hours. And the FBI agent “took the meeting”–which was actually a lunch–with a former co-worker who reportedly had information about suspicious interaction with a foreign government by a high-profile politician. While nothing prosecutorial came out of that tip, isn’t foreign interference in US elections something we want the FBI to stop?
