Now some of our readers might be tempted to respond below with that old “Bro, why you giving them a platform,” because at first glance it sounds like an impractical and/or unconstitutional jerk piece of legislation that won’t go anywhere. And maybe that’ll ultimately prove correct.
But embedded above is not the original tweet, it’s a quote tweet from a Florida state lawmaker, a total dipshit with a history of plagiarizing Texas Republicans’ legislation. Again, maybe not “momentum” to get such a batshit law passed in one or both states, but it’s not nothing either. And it doesn’t take a lot of imagination to think that maybe – even probably – such a law would be so ambiguously worded – and intentionally so – that not just “drag queens” who dress up for party time but otherwise live their lives identifying as men but also trans people merely in the presence of children would be a criminal act, because what good is a slope if you can’t make it slippery?
