Jenna Ellis, a lawyer who was frequently by the side of suspended Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani as they spread lies about the outcome of the 2020 presidential election, has joined the campaign of Republican Pennsylvania gubernatorial candidate Doug Mastriano, she announced on Twitter.
Although she didn’t sign off on a single campaign lawsuit that was victorious, Ellis continues to promote debunked claims about the legitimacy of the 2020 outcome. Having sat at Giuliani’s side during multiple dog-and-pony shows to spread easily disproven lies, Ellis also caught coronavirus at an event with Giuliani where Giuliani let out a number of audible farts. She also stood behind the former practicing attorney as hair dye streaked down his face at a press conference.
Ellis delivered a legally-tenuous brief for Trump attorney Jay Sekulow on January 5, 2021 in which she claimed that then-Vice President Mike Pence’s assertion that the VP doesn’t have the authority to unilaterally negate certified slates of Electoral College electors from states was false. No Constitutional lawyer or scholar supports her interpretation of the law.
