Republican Georgia Senate nominee Herschel Walker has promoted himself as a dedicated father, often chiding the Black community for its perceived monopoly on absent fathers. Well, as is common with hypocritical conservative moralists, Walker has a secret illegitimate son that he has not publically acknowledged, the Daily Beast reports.
“And I want to apologize to the African-American community, because the fatherless home is a major, major problem,” Walker said in a September 2020 interview on the Charlie Kirk Show, where he was praised as an exceptional “family values” leader. Patting himself on the back, Walker said he was “like a father to some of those kids that had never had fathers.”
Walker acknowledges his 22-year-old son Christian, who has become a glittering attention whore with his tone-deaf and tastelessly flamboyant social media posts, apparently unaware that having a wealthy father can solve myriad problems affecting Black youth.
The child Walker fathered hasn’t had any connection to his father since he was born a decade ago. He and his mother now live more than 1,500 miles away from Walker’s home in Texas. Walker is listed as the child’s father on court documents, and he reportedly sends the child Christmas and birthday gifts.
Walker fathered Christian with his first wife, who divorced him in 2001. She filed a restraining order against Walker in 2005, saying he threatened her with knives and threatened to shoot her and her new boyfriend “in the head.” Because of the threat, a judge ordered Walker to turn over all his guns. Walker had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2001, but still owned a collection of lethal firearms with which he threatened to murder two people.
Walker married his current wife, Julie Blanchard, in May 2021.
“Herschel had a child years ago when he wasn’t married. He’s supported the child and continues to do so. He’s proud of his children. To suggest that Herschel is ‘hiding’ the child because he hasn’t used him in his political campaign is offensive and absurd,” Walker’s campaign said in a statement without disclosing why he never officially acknowledge having at least one illegitimate child.
