The State Department on Monday confirmed a second American veteran volunteer had been killed in action on the ground last month in Ukraine. Stephen Zabielski, 52, died on May 15 “while fighting the war”, according to an obituary published in the Recorder, a newspaper in Montgomery County, New York. Zabielski is the second American killed in action since the invasion began in February, after 22-year-old Marine veteran Willy Cancel. “We once again reiterate U.S. citizens should not travel to Ukraine due to the active armed conflict and the singling out of U.S. citizens in Ukraine by Russian government security officials,” said a State Department spokesperson.
