On Tuesday the House January 6th Select Committee convenes for the fourth of seven planned hearings. Tuesday’s live hearing will center on fat former President Trump’s attempt to pressure state officials and efforts to get legislatures to name alternate electors, featuring testimony from Republican Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, his deputy Gabe Sterling, Georgia election worker Wandrea “Shaye” Moss who, along with her mom Ruby Freeman, endured a campaign of harassment and violent threats from MAGA maniacs after they’d been falsely implicated in an election stealing scheme by video of them counting votes presented out of context to right wing media, and Republican Arizona State House Speaker Rusty Bowers on pressure from Trump and his allies pressuring him to overturn the result of the 2020 election in the state.
Just an hour before the hearing was set to start, Trump pulled the old “better hope that there are no ‘tapes’ of our conversations” on Bowers, issuing a deranged, angry statement saying: “Arizona Speaker of the House Rusty Bowers is the latest RINO to play along with the Unselect Committee. In November 2020, Bowers thanked me for getting him elected. He said he would have lost, and in fact expected to lose, if I hadn’t come along. During the conversation, he told me that the election was rigged and that I won Arizona. He said he got more votes than I did which could never have happened. In fact, he said without me, he would have been out of office, and he expected to be prior to my coming along, and big Arizona rallies. The night before the election he walked outside with his wife and saw the tremendous Trump enthusiasm and told her, ‘You know what? Maybe I will win after all’ – and he did. Bowers should hope there’s not a tape of the conversation”
The next hearing will be held on Thursday afternoon.
