The city of Kennesaw, Georgia, famous for its mandatory gun ownership law and overall MAGA Confederate ambience, saw the resignation of one of its city council members Tuesday after officials apparently ignored their own business licensing laws in renewing a racist gift shop’s permit that should’ve been nullified by the owner’s death, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Wildman’s Civil War Surplus on Main Street, which sells Ku Klux Klan hoods, Confederate flags, and racist caricatures of Black folks – and probably MAGA hats, “Let’s Go Brandon” stickers, and Trump 2024 flags too – should’ve shut down permanently after its original founder and owner died in January, but the title had been transferred to a trust in 2015, and last week a local woman named Marjorie Lyon was cleared to reopen the store as the trustee. City officials refused to explain their process for clearing the store to reopen to the Journal-Constitution, leading to the fairly obvious conclusion they broke their own rules to keep a racist shithole open for business.
