A DC Metropolitan Police Department officer who was part of the motorcade that transported Donald Trump around Washington on January 6, 2021 told the House Select Committee investigating the domestic terrorist attack on Congress that day that he witnessed Trump demanding to go to the Capitol, CNN reports.
The testimony corroborates the account related by Cassidy Hutchinson, an aide to White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, who told the committee that she was told about the confrontation by Secret Service agent Robert Engel, who told her in the presence of then-White House deputy chief of staff Tony Ornato, a one-time Secret Service agent.
Trump going to the Capitol would to lead the attack by the domestic terrorists he stoked would have solidified his effort to be a dictator as he halted the certification of the Electoral College vote to name Democrat Joe Biden the winner of the November election.
