In a bill that questions the sanity of the so-called “pro-life” caucus, a pair of North Carolina Republicans has introduced a bill that would allow anyone to kill anyone seeking or performing an abortion to protect a fetus, even illogically calling for the execution of the pregnant person, Newsweek reports.
Apparently unaware that a fetus needs a host to survive, Republican state legislators Larry Pittman and Mark Allen Brody introduced the bill that is short on science and chock full of violence.
“It is a matter of indisputable scientific fact that a distinct and separate human life begins at the moment of fertilization,” the bill reads without apparent regard to what the words “indisputable,” “scientific,” “fact,” “distinct” and “separate” mean. The bill goes on to say that any person has the right to protect his or her life, as well as the life of another person, which presumably means that someone could shoot and kill someone going into a hospital or health clinic if they believe that person was seeking an abortion. It also essentially legalizes the hunting of anyone who experienced a miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy and sought medical care for it, as well as any medical professional who helps treat such a condition.
