Republican former West Virginia state Delegate Derrick Evans, whose career in politics lasted all of 39 days before he resigned from the state legislature after being arrested for entering the Capitol and live-streaming it during the January 6th, 2021 MAGA insurrection, pleaded guilty on February 3rd, 2022, and was sentenced last week to 90 days in jail. Aside from “Cowboys for Trump” asshole Otero County Commissioner Couy Griffin, Evans was the only currently serving elected official to be arrested for crimes in connection to the insurrection.
