- Odd that Jill Biden would make the long walk with Joe. Not sure why he wanted to make this a “family” thing.
- Joe’s on point in calling out the MAGA Republicans, and now, those Republicans who watched it have to make a decision: are they for the Country or are they for Trump?
- Calling out the heckler and saying “this is democracy” is a wonderful bit of improvisation by Biden. He’s telling all Americans, “Yes, there are people on the fringe. They’re not going away, but you don’t have to join them.”
- This is the first time I can remember where Biden called out Trump by name and called out his (and his lackeys’) endorsement of political violence.
- Unpopular view: while this speech needed to be made–and Biden made it well–the setting was a bit too theatric. It was too much of a political rally when that message needed to be said in a non-political setting.
- Unpopular view II: The applause by the audience made the setting sound like it was a staged political event instead of a message of unity for the nation.
- Overall, this was a good, powerful speech. Alas, it will never be heard by 70% of the people who needed to hear it: Trump supporters.
