DC Circuit Judge Amit Mehta on Friday sentenced former New York City Police Officer Thomas Webster to 10 years in prison for assaulting cops as he attacked the Capitol during the MAGA insurrection on January 6th, 2021, CBS News’s Scott MacFarlane reports. Webster, a former Marine, was convicted in May of six felonies for his actions during the attack which he had claimed were “self-defense.” Prosecutors showed video in which Webster swung a metal flagpole at police officers and attempted to choke one out using the strap of the officer’s gas mask.
