Conservative MP Liz Truss has won the Tory Party leadership race and is now officially the Prime Minister-designate of the United Kingdom, beating former Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak 81,326 to 60,399 votes, the BBC reports. Truss takes over in the middle of a political and economic meltdown ravaging Britain, with the pound falling to its lowest level since 1985 on Monday.
