Never one to put national security first, Donald Trump and his lawyers filed their opposition to a Justice Department request that would have allowed the DOJ to continue its review of the classified documents recovered during the August search of Trump’s reunion venue and buffet club Mar-a-Lago, Reuters reports.
More than 100 separate classified documents were among 11,000 government documents found at the club. Trump requested a special master to review all the documents for issues of attorney-client privilege or executive privilege, something a Trump-appointed federal lawyer in Florida shockingly granted.
Now, federal investigators and national security officials want to assess the damages, but cannot because the judge’s order precludes the FBI, one of 18 national security agencies, from accessing the information.
