Continuing their stunning counteroffensive which routed Russian occupiers in the country’s east, Ukrainian forces on Monday began an incursion into the Kremlin-backed Donbas separatist region of Luhansk and were aiming to retake the entire territory within the week, Reuters reports.
“The occupiers are clearly in a panic,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Monday, marveling at the “speed at which our troops are moving. The speed in restoring normal life.” So terrified were the leaders of the two puppet regimes of Luhansk and Donetsk that they moved to accelerate long-planned referendum votes on annexing themselves to Russia.
