With the Republicans introducing their new pamphlet-sized policy called “Commitment to America,” they decided to drop a new video touting how all their things will be the most ‘Muricany American stuff ever, they may want to check the provenance of the images.
As HuffPost reports, two images used in the montage of stock photos and clips were filed in the GOP homeland of Mother Russia. A pic purportedly showing the might of American fossil fuel power actually shows a Russian oil rig. And that cute American blond boy? He’s got a greater likelihood of being named Boris or Vladimir because he’s also Russian.
It’s not the first time the GOP has took to Russian imagery to portray their power: in 2020, an ad for Donald Trump’s campaign featured Russian fighter jets and what are apparently Russian soldiers. The ad had the headline, “Support Our Troops.”
