It is now, as of this writing, 8:43 AM EDT on Friday, 43 minutes after Donald was supposed to have made public his promised response to the House January 6th Committee’s vote to subpoena him to testify about his failed attempt to overturn his humiliating loss in the 2020 election to Joe Biden.
Interestingly enough, Trump had been posting other bullshit on Truth Social until just before the appointed hour, with his last one being some lame video at 7:57 AM. Two minutes before that he posted a link to a Fox News article headlined “Trump ‘loves the idea of testifying’ before Jan. 6 committee: source close to the former president,” which could indicate some absolutely desperate behind the scenes effort by his minions to stop him from putting out a statement saying he accepts the challenge and will testify. Or maybe Trump suddenly dropped dead of a stroke.
UPDATE 10/14/2022 9:17 AM EDT: Trump finally posted a lengthy letter, dated Thursday, in which the words “subpoena” and “testify” do not at any point appear, and apparently does not specifically address anything from the Thursday hearing at all. It’s not clear if this letter was even written on Thursday, as Trump simply rehashed the same bullshit he’s been saying since the he left office, like “The massive size of this crowd, and its meaning, has never been a subject of your Committee, nor has it been discussed by the Fake News Media that absolutely refuses to acknowledge, in any way, shape or form, the magnitude of what was taking place,” and other such insufferable whining.
