A massive deluge of tumbleweeds covered a Colorado Springs-area couple’s property this week, with piles of the spherical balls of dead xeric vegetation towering as much as 12 feet high blocking the driveway and doors of the home, ABC News reports. “It’s a horrible situation,” said El Paso County woman Marlies Gross. “Like a horror movie… It’s very eerie and very creepy.” High winds with gusts of up to 60 miles an hour are almost certainly the real cause, but that’s not as much fun as baselessly speculating that the tumbleweeds somehow developed a taste for human flesh but haven’t figured out yet how to open the door to overwhelm the Grosses while they’re sleeping.
