Breaking Noose: Department of Justice prosecutors are hanging onto hopes they can get former Vice President Mike Pence to stick his neck out and testify to the grand jury investigating the failed Trump coup attempt and the January 6th 2021 Capitol riot, the New York Times reports.
Citing executive privilege, Pence said he would not respect a Congressional subpoena demanding his testimony about Trump’s efforts to block the certification of Joe Biden as winner of the election. A Department of Justice criminal investigation presents a couple problems with that claim: first, that this probe targets a criminal act which executive privilege does not cover and second, the Department of Justice is part of the Executive branch.
