The European Union has warned Twitter’s new owner that his decisions to eliminate much of post moderation could lead to the app being barred in the EU, calling his decisions to allow people previously banned for harassment, threats and hate speech, the Financial Times reports.
Recently, the EU passed the Digital Services Act, a landmark regulation that lays out responsible practices for online services that outlines requirements companies must follow to operate in the EU, including responsible and reasonable moderation of social media posts.
Musk has decimated Twitter. He’s dismissed the teams responsible for comment moderation, and reports paint a picture of a company in disarray as Musk kowtows to right-wing extremism who want to invade the app to spew hate-filled, vile comments.
