“We are very disappointed in Congressman-elect Santos. He deceived us and misrepresented his heritage. In public comments and to us personally he previously claimed to be Jewish. He has begun his tenure in Congress on a very wrong note. He will not be welcome at any future RJC event,” said RJC chairman Matt Brooks in a statement about Santos admitting he’s not Jewish.
It wasn’t the lying about where he worked, lived, having graduated college, or that he’s got a warrant out for his arrest in Brazil. It was just the misrepresenting his Jewish identity.
