Text messages and phone records obtained by CNN from the Herschel Walker campaign staffer who got groped by CPAC chief Matt Schlapp reveal old Schlappy acting like a jilted ex-lover the next day.
“I did want to say I was uncomfortable with what happened last night,” the unnamed younger man wrote after the disturbing incident in which Schlapp apparently had decided that since he was a star, they let you do it, you can do anything. “The campaign does have a driver who is available to get you to Macon [Georgia] and get you back to the airport,” the text continued, making it clear on no uncertain terms that the young man did not want to be alone with Schlappy ever again.
Schlappy then called the young man several times over the next few hours, each time being declined before texting back with “…if you could see it in your heart at the end of the day. I would appreciate it. If not I wish you luck on the campaign and hope you keep up the good work.”
CNN also revealed a separate text exchange between the man and a friend on the night of, with the man writing “He’s pissed I didn’t follow him back to his hotel room,” referring to Schlapp. “I’m so sorry man. What a fucking creep,” the friend replied. “I just don’t know how to say it to my superiors [that their] surrogate just fondled my junk without my consent,” the young man wrote back.
