DC Circuit Court Judge Amit Mehta on Friday indefinitely postponed the trial of former Trump White House advisor and shitty board game entrepreneur Peter Navarro on a contempt of Congress charge, citing questions about Donald’s assertion of executive privilege over Navarro when he defied a 2021 subpoena from the House January 6th Committee, Politico’s Kyle Cheney reports.
Navarro had been set to go on trial next week. The halt comes just days after the fat former President’s lawyers wrote a letter asserting executive privilege over Navarro’s testimony. Trump had tried the same with Steve Bannon just prior to his trial and conviction on the same charge last year, but it didn’t work as Bannon was not a White House employee in January 2021. Navarro was, and as such he has a stronger claim, leading Mehta to call off the trial until it can be resolved.
