While in the bullpen during a game against the University of Houston–Victoria, an 18-year-old Texas A&M-Texarkana baseball player was struck Saturday evening by a stray bullet fired during an incident that happened in a neighborhood bordering the Texarkana ballpark, NBC News reports.
The player, who was not identified, was taken to the hospital where he’s listed in stable condition, and officials for both schools halted the game, declaring it “no contest.” The incident caused the regional Boy Scouts to cancel an event they were holding in another part of the park.
