Somebody better check on the welfare of Snowflake, Ted Cruz’s dog that he routinely abandons while his family jets off to Mexico during power failures in Texas. NBC News reports ERCOT, the company responsible for the independent Texas power grid, has asked customers to cut back on usage as the state deals with a heat wave, which obviously nobody saw coming to Texas in June.
You may remember ERCOT as the villain in the 2021 power outage in which parts of its key infrastructure to deliver electricity and natural gas to its customers, prompting comic relief Ted Cruz to jet to Cancun before returning after being shamed. In this case, ERCOT claims it was “not experiencing emergency conditions” but was asking customers to cut back to as many areas of Texas hit record highs. In West Texas, San Angelo reached an all-time high of 114 degrees Fahrenheit. Thousands of customers are still without power around Texas after storms and tornados hit the area.
