In a statement posted to the website of fat former President Trump’s “MAGA PAC,” but not the Trump Campaign’s own site, titled “Judge Tanya Chutkan Must Recuse Herself” some wiener “junior communications aide” or something writes various smears of the Obama-appointed (but Republican approved) federal jurist overseeing the post-2020 election coup attempt case against Donald, calling her the daughter of “a family of Jamaican communist revolutionaries,” and quoting demented little gnome Mark Levin’s Sunday meltdown precipitating Trump’s motion demanding she recuse.
However it’s the part where they quote Chutkan from the transcript of a October 4, 2021 sentencing hearing for Capitol rioter Matthew Mazzocco, who had pleaded his non-violent felonies down to a misdemeanor parading charge, while bitching about getting treated unfairly compared to Black Lives Matter and Antifa protestors that you can see why Trump farmed this out to a PAC.
Their version:
“Now, there are some people who have compared the riots of January 6 with other protests that took place throughout the country over the past year and who have suggested that the Capitol rioters are somehow being treated unfairly. I flatly disagree. People gathered all over the country last year to protest the violent murder by the police of an unarmed man… to compare the actions of people protesting, mostly peacefully, for civil rights, to those of a violent mob seeking to overthrow the lawfully elected government is a false equivalency and ignores a very real danger that the January riot posed to the foundation of our democracy.”
The relevant part of the real version, from a freaking OAN article of all places, emphasis added:
“People gathered all over the country last year to protest the violent murder by the police of an unarmed man. Some of those protesters became violent. But to compare the actions of people protesting, mostly peacefully, for civil rights, to those of a violent mob seeking to overthrow the lawfully elected government is a false equivalency and ignores a very real danger that the January 6 riot posed to the foundation of our democracy.”
Now there is some real plausible deniability here in that the MAGA PAC’s version was lifted directly from the Fox News article linked right there in their statement. Of course, being another unofficial arm of the Trump campaign, Fox were the ones who pasted the ellipses over the “Some of those protesters became violent” part. That said, it’s important to note again that this came from the MAGA PAC and not the Trump campaign itself. PACs and candidates cannot lawfully coordinate or even really communicate with each other directly. Very hard to imagine this didn’t originate with the Trump campaign and, using a patina of compliance with that proscription on coordination, gives them the deniability to say the PAC was “going rogue” if the falsehood comes up in court during Trump’s (already certainly doomed) bid to get Chutkan to recuse.
