The Russian government released an app this week via the national government portal to enlist the public’s participation in its defense against the increasing number of drone attacks against the homeland from Ukraine, the Washington Post reports.
Called The Radar app, the platform allows people to report when and where they saw a suspicious aircraft flying overhead, as well as other information like the drone’s direction and a photo. The app will collect information and the Kremlin hopes, will give defense forces time to react.
The Radar also allows people to report non-aerial suspicious activities to authorities, who have been at a loss to stop a number of drone attacks and other targeted strikes, including car bombings.
