- Dianne Feinstein was forced to remain in the Senate until her dying day because of a callous political calculation by Mitch McConnell and the GOP. She should have been allowed to retire and spend her last days with family in California with her successor seated in DC, but because of McConnell’s craven desire to manipulate rules to his political advantage, Feinstein was denied that dignity. That is disgusting and inhumane. May she finally have peace.
- Notable: in his Thursday speech, Joe Biden didn’t implore people to go out and vote for him to save our democracy. He just implored people to participate in our elections. Biden will never say “Only I can save you!” as Trump does. Biden knows only the People can save the nation, at the ballot box.
- Remember when Lauren Boebert claimed she had a super-secret parliamentary way to force an impeachment vote on the floor of the House? That ploy, like her high school education, failed.
- If it isn’t obvious enough, Trump is now trying to throw his Georgia racketeering case so he can (1) appeal and (2) play up how unfair the System is to him before the election. It’s why he doesn’t want to remove the Fulton County case to federal court: he believes he’ll appear more of a victim at the hands of those naughty (Black) Atlantans.
- In the age of legalized marijuana, we should completely reimagine the role of Dopey in Snow White for future productions.
- Trump hopes Chutkan gets forcibly recused by the Supreme Court for saying poor things about Trump–a Supreme Court ruling that would be supported by Clarence Thomas, Brett Kavanaugh, the Stepford Wife and others who have publicly praised Trump. No hypocrisy here, huh?
- In no reality did I want to learn about Mike Pence’s sex life.
- My favorite thing about a potential future Gavin Newsom presidency in 2029 is that Kimberly Guilfoyle will watch the results with a tear in her false-lashed eye.
- Not hyperbole: Trump calling for the execution of the newly-retired Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley is the most disgusting thing he’s ever said, IMO. Besmirching a man who served in uniform–something Trump was too much of a coward to do–because Milley wanted to add stability to foreign relations that Trump continuously upset demonstrates, once again, Trump’s contempt and jealousy of people better than he.
- When I’m feeling down, I have a secret to perk me up: I watch a recording of Comer/Jordan/Smith’s hilarious “impeachment inquiry” hearing. It’s more enjoyable than any sitcom.
- Before Wednesday, the worst debate I ever watched was the 1992 Vice Presidential debate: “Who am I? Why am I here?” This week’s GOP debate, however, topped that.
- The UAW workers gave up about 25% of their compensation (and waived negotiated future raises) to save the industry from the Bush recession. With stockholders getting tens of billions in dividends each year, it’s time to return the workers’ share.
- Sad to hear Bruce Springsteen has to delay his tour by a year due to an illness, but still kinda impressed that a 74-year-old is on a national tour. And with Springsteen, those aren’t short sets.
- There are times I want homemade pizza, others when I want a brand-name frozen pizza, some when I want delivery from a local pizzeria, and the one time a decade I opt for Papa John’s. They all have their places in the world, some regretfully.
- Why is it always the workers who must sacrifice and never the shareholders when a public company’s business drops? Profits are not guaranteed; wages are.
- Archeologists identified what they believe to be the oldest shoes made, a sturdy pair of 6,000 proto-flip flops found in a Spanish cave in the 1800s made from what appears to be rope. The swoosh on the side was a surprise.
- None of the GOP candidates “won” the last debate. While there were memorable moments by Haley and Christie, their overall performances fell short of the “winning” mark. Ramaswamy and Scott took the biggest hits. And DeSantis is, well, DeSantis. The field will be down to four within two months–not including Trump. In short: Clown show.
