White nationalist alcoholic Steve Bannon earlier this month found himself begging a New York state judge not to allow a law firm he stiffed for $480,487 to look through his bank records as they likely contain evidence of his crimes in the “We Build The Wall” scam, the Daily Beast reports.
The filing by Bannon’s current lawyer, Harlan Protass, comes ahead of his state court trial on the fraud charges for which Bannon escaped federal prosecution when Trump pardoned him at the last minute in January 2021, essentially amounts to Bannon trying to plead the Fifth on evidence in the civil case brought by former longtime attorney Robert Costello over the unpaid bills (Costello’s firm is also currently suing other dumpy right wing alcoholic Rudy Giuliani for the very same reason).
That’s literally what Protass actually wrote in the filing: That Davidoff, Hutcher, and Citron’s “taking of post-judgment discovery from Mr Bannon poses a significant risk of compromising Mr Bannon’s Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination,” Protass wrote in the filing. Worse yet for Bannon, the line of inquiry by Davidoff, Hutcher, and Citron all stems from a whole other can of worms with his accused felon Chinese billionaire sugar daddy Guo Wengui, the Gettr backer on whose yacht Bannon was arrested over the wall scam in August 2020. But wait, there’s more: Bannon being deposed “also poses a significant risk” of incrimination during his appeal of his sentence for criminal contempt of Congress for fucking off on the subpoena from the House January 6th Committee.
