For the first time in its mission to protect commercial shipping traveling through the Red Sea, a US Navy ship encountered an unmanned underwater drone launched by Houthi rebels in Yemen, CBS News reports, which it destroyed.
Between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. local time, multiple ships in the force conducted “self-defense attacks” against three Houthi anti-ship missiles and a drone surface vessel. There are no details of the attack, the device or how the US Navy vessel defeated the weapon.
