The plan was solid. Perfect, even. Jacob Henson, 31, an inmate at Washington State Prison, who was being treated for a stab wound at the nearby Washington County Regional Medical Center knew what he was doing when he found just the right moment to steal a can of pepper spray off the belt of a Georgia Department of Corrections officer and blast him in the face with it. Hell, the stab wound might’ve even been staged just so Henson could get the guard right where he wanted them.
And Henson pulled it off without a hitch. He sprayed that bastard good and incapacitated him.
However, his other plan, “Spray the second GDC officer present,” did not go so smoothly. You could say it hit a few speed bumps. Or, more accurately, a few bullets from that guard’s service weapon hit Henson, per a Georgia Bureau of Investigation press release. Henson may have also had some other plans like “Steal civilian clothes and controlled substances from closet,” “Find keys to ambulance,” and “Drive away from hospital with live hostages,” that might’ve came to fruition if he had been successful with his second pepper spray attack. You also can’t really say “Better luck next time, jailbird” because Henson was pronounced dead at the scene after the unplanned bulleting.
